A Journey Of A Long Distance Relationship

courtesy of ArlethG Photography (used with permission)

Marriage is a journey...you can't just desire for it today and date on that day and marry the next day.

And for me, you can't put God in a box where to meet the person you'll marry. God has so many ways in doing it in answers to our prayers.

A journey of a long distance relationship...this is basically an interview and a photoblog about LJ and John's journey with their wedding that started as a long distance relationship.

LJ Salceda-Shroeder is a former 702 DZAS host of Inspirations Unlimited and Pinoy Espesyal but still the host of Love On Air and the author of Eating With One Chopstick

This interview was supposed to be a video interview when she was still here but for some reason, i wasn't able to produce a video interview.

Anyway, their story is really a wedding dream that came to reality. I said this because they underwent a lot of paperwork (which is not easy to accomplish), interviews and different situations before they finally married. After reading this, you might want to read LJ's blogs (the link to her blog site is posted on the latter part of this article.)

Here's the interview:

WeddingDreamsAndReality :

How do u feel now that your single days are numbered?

LJ Salceda-Shroeder:

Mostly stressed out because of the paperwork and wedding preparations. It went by fast because I was always occupied with something, before I knew it, I was married! :)

LJ Salceda-Shroeder:

We met through a Christian dating site for free.

WeddingDreamsAndReality :

What are the disadvantages and advantages of having a long distance relationship and how did u overcome those disadvantages?

LJ Salceda-Shroeder:

Advantages: Focus on work/ministry and avoiding temptations, more time for yourself.

more time for herself
focus on work (with her DZAS family)
focus on the ministry

Disadvantages: Not being able to see each other in person, expenses, not being able to spend important occasions together.

WeddingDreamsAndReality :

How did u know that John is the one you want to marry? Was there a "sign" that he is the one :) ?

LJ Salceda-Shroeder:

I don't believe in signs nor asked for them. I prayed, I asked the Lord for guidance and confirmations and I had peace in my heart that's when I knew we were meant for each other.

WeddingDreamsAndReality :

What tips can you give to those who are on LDR (Long Distance Relationships) to make their relationships successful?

LJ Salceda-Shroeder:

Pray, invest in your relationship and save tons of money for visits, paperwork and wedding. :)

WeddingDreamsAndReality :

A journey of a long distance relationship...it wasn't easy for the both of them but in their patience, a lot of prayers, trust in God, encouragements from their family and friends, willingness to do the paperwork without going through shortcuts, the love for each other, the vision to reach their goals and the desire to glorify God...wow...it's really inspiring! LJ and John, may your marriage continue to glorify God.

God deserves all the glory!

A Wife

When i was riding in a taxi going to work the past few days, i started composing these words in my heart and when i got home the other day from work, i started to write these down on my notebook and here's my composition. Men, i hope you would treat your wife like this:

A wife is someone to love not to hate
She is a help-meet not your helper
She should be your supporter
not your competitor, nor your destroyer.

A wife should always be remembered, not forgotten.
Live with her not leave her
Take care of her and don't say "I don't care."

A wife doesn't need a shout and doesn't need to be in doubt
She needs your whisper, your sweet talk and a good talk as you walk
Give her your comfort not just your financial support.

A wife needs your listening ears
She always wants your words saying, "I'll be here, remove your fears."

A wife should be treasured
God gave her, so cherish her...
Love her as Christ loves her
She is yours and should not belong to any other man
Keep her as the apple of your eye, man!

A wife should be your one and only
No number two, no number three,
no number four nor number forty four
Make her your first and last, not your past
Till death do you part...this should be in your heart!

Most of the thoughts i post here are my own writings...
these are the things I've learned as i spend time reading God's word during my devotional time and sometimes, words are just dropped in my heart.
And if in case you would like to post my own writings/poems/devotional thoughts/insights to your own blogs or use them in any way, please ask permission from me first or at least give credit that it came from me.
Thank you so much:))

The One You Love Versus God

                               video courtesy of youtube.com

I celebrate with other Filipinos about Ms Shamcey Supsup's victory in the  Miss Universe 2011 Pageant.

Since the question and answer was about relationship, i decided to post it here including the video. I've been planning to post it here on the day the Miss Universe 2011 was held but i had no time to do it. So,to those who watched the pageant, here's this post to refresh you and to those who were not able to watch it, here's a glimpse of it.

The question was : Would you change your religious beliefs to marry the person you love, why or why not?

She answered: "If i had to change my religious beliefs, i would not marry the person that i love because the first person that i love is God who created me and i have my faith, my principles and this is what makes me who  i am and if that person loves me, he should love my God, too."

My view on it: Congratulations, Shamcey. You answered that well. I agree. The one we should love first is God and if that person doesn't love God and doesn't even honor God, a relationship with that person is not worth fighting for. If we would choose God, He could provide a better person...not just a better person but the best person for us, the one who loves Him and the one that would really love us the way God wants us to be loved.

Relationship (Part II)

Most of our thoughts
are centered on the money we want to make,
the school we want to attend,
the body we aspire to have,
the spouse we want to marry,
the kind of person we want to become.
But the fact is that
nothing should concern us more
than our relationship with God.
